Contact types are the ways your team contacts people: Phone call, Email, Text message, Meeting, Session, Home / school visit and Other. They're the buttons in a profile's Log, the How? icons when you mark a task done, and the Type of a task.
A Director chooses which ones your agency uses. For example, an agency that never emails clients can turn Email off, and the Email buttons disappear for everyone.
Open the list
- Click Settings in the sidebar.
- Open the Contact types tab.
Each type is one row: a switch, its icon, its name, two checkboxes and arrows to move it.
Turn a type on or off
Click the switch at the start of the row. A type that's off:
- is gone from the Log buttons, the How? icons and the task Type field
- for Phone call, Text message and Email, also hides the Call, Text or Email button at the top of every profile
Lines and tasks that already have that type keep showing it. Nothing is deleted.
Choose where a type shows
Two checkboxes in each row:
- Log on profiles: the type is a button in the profile Log.
- Mark task done: the type is one of the How? icons when a task is marked done.
Every type that's on can be a task's Type, whichever boxes are ticked.
Order and names
- Click the ↑ and ↓ arrows to move a type. The buttons follow this order. In the Log, Note comes first, then your first two types; the rest are under More.
- To rename a type, click its name and type a new one, for example Session → Therapy session. The original name shows under it. Clear the box to go back to the original.
Add your own type
- Under Add a type, click the icon to pick one.
- Type the name, for example Fax.
- Click Add a type, or press Enter.
You can add up to 10 of your own. To remove one, click the trash icon in its row. Lines already logged with it keep their name.
Save
Changes stay on this page until you click Save. A message says Contact types saved, and everyone's buttons change right away.
